Save a Smile was a Big Brother/ Big Sister outing where I was able to gather a group of kids together that were in need of some attention and friendship. Each of these kids have either parents that aren’t with us anymore, kids whose parents don’t pay attention to them, and parents that just don’t have time to do the simple things in life like go to the park and let the kids run wild with their peers. It’s not that these kids’ parents are bad parents at all, it’s that the parents are just to busy with work and other responsibilities to just have fun and listen to what the kids have to say and help them through things that might be bothering them. What we did was went out and had a stress free day by taking them to the park for a pizza party, where we let them meet, play, and share with other kids that are in their same situation showing each other that their not alone in life. It also let them make new life long friendships that they probably wouldn’t have made if it wasn’t for this opportunity.
